WE LOVE NPCC!!!!! @ {6:59 PM}

30 March 2007, Saturday. It was a rainy day. Nevertheless, the rainy weather did not dampen Kranji NPCC cadets' mood for the upcoming unit inter-level badminton tournament.

At 7.45 am, the whole unit gathered in front of the NPCC room for attendance-taking. The unit was divided into 4 groups, each consisting of cheerleaders and players. After all the administrative matters had been settled, the cadets gathered in the hall for a briefing. Each group was given 10 minutes to create a dynamic group name and to rehearse their cheers.
The hall was divided into 3 parts so that 3 matches could be held concurrently. The whistle was blown and the cadets were more than eager to kick start the tournament. The atmosphere was tense as all the players were very skilled. The NCOs were the linesmen and supported the cadets.

The tournament progressed with total silence at times. There were occasional gasps and expressions of awe at beautiful shots. There was also passionate cheering for their group mates.

Time passed quickly. Nearing the end of the competition, the atmosphere of the event was at its highest and each group cheered their players on with the utmost vigor. After 20 minutes of fierce competition, the champions emerged with glory.
The fun time for the NCOs arrived. It was time for them to compete! Everyone gathered around the court to witness the last two important matches. The hall was so silent that you could hear a pin drop. The second last match was between the NCOs. They were competing for the title of the ‘Badminton champions’. Now, this was the decisive round to determine who would be the best of the best. Every step they took was important. One minor mistake could ruin their chance of being the badminton champion. Everyone was cheering for their desired NCOs to win. Then, one of them smashed the shuttlecock at the opponent. The opponent skillfully swerved it and shot it back to the other side. The match was full of finger-biting moments and heart pumping actions.

It was definitely a thrilling day at the Kranji NPCC Inter-level Badminton Tournament.

The day ended with a debrief to consolidate learning points from the unit event.

1. Kranji NPCC, formed in 1995, was the first uniform group in Kranji Secondary School.
It started off with 42 male cadets and 42 female cadets.
2. The first OC was Mr Abdul Razak Bin Patwi with 3 Teacher Officers. There were 2 Cadet Inspectors
and 2 Honorary Officers respectively.
3. On 10th June 1997, the NPCC Contingent under CI Lim Wee Seng led the Official School Opening
Ceremony with Mr Yeo Cheow Tong as the Guest-of-Honour.
4. In 1998, a Kranjian boy, Elaneethan Radjasingham, won the Best Male Individual Shooter Award.
5. In 1998, the first batch of Sec 4 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) passed out.
6. In 1998 & 1999, Kranji NPCC cadets proudly participated in the NDP Parade for 2 consecutive years.
7. In 1999, Mr Tan Keok Kee took over as the OC of Kranji NPCC Unit with 3 Teacher Officers. There were 4
CIs & 1 HO respectively.
8. In 2000, there are 4 Teacher Officers, 2 CIs and 1 HO respectively.
9. In 2000, the first pioneer Boys & Girls Campcraft Teams were formed and sent for the Inter-Unit Campcraft
Competition that was held biennially. The Boys & Girls Team achieved 47th & 52nd position respectively.
10.In 2000, 3 cadets from Kranji together with cadets from Nanyang Girls
High, St. Margaret Secondary & Ghim Moh Secondary represented Area 18 in the Biennial Inter-Area Project-Based Competition. The team clinched the first position.
11.For the first time, Kranji NPCC unit was awarded Silver in the Unit Overall
Proficiency Award.
12.In 2001, there are 3 Teacher Officers, 4 CIs & 1 HO respectively.
13.Kranji NPCC unit was awarded Silver in the Unit Overall Proficiency Award.
14.In 2002, there are 5 Teacher Officers and 4 CIs respectively.
15.For the Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition, the boys and grils achieved
42nd and 47th position respectively.
16.In 2002, Kranji NPCC became part of Area 20 (West Zone). There
are a total of 20 Areas divided into North, South, East & West. Kranji NPCC used to be from Area 18.
17.Area 20 in 2002 includes:-
-Bukit Panjang NPCC
-Chua Chu Kang NPCC
-Kranji NPCC
-Regent NPCC
-Teck Whye NPCC
-Unity NPCC
-West Spring NPCC
-Zhenghua NPCC
18. The Area Commandant for Area 20 is DSP Ong Pin Sam.
19. Kranji NPCC received Silver in the Unit Overall Proficiency Award
for the 3rd conservative year.
